Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Online Taxi Drivers and Owners Association staged protest rally against the harassment which are facing by them, form Nehru Maidan to Mangaluru Central Railway Station on Tuesday.
Addressing the protestors association honorary President B K Imtiyaz said that, some of the passenger taxi drivers and auto rickshaw drivers are harassing the online taxi drivers and the administration is mum on this issue.
“Online taxi drivers pick the passengers when they will get a call from passengers. They will not park their vehicles in the railway station premises. But the station taxi drivers and rickshaw drivers are harassing the online taxi drivers in several ways,” he said.
He further urged the police and administration to stop such kind of harassments and to give proper protection to the vehicles while entering into the station premises.
“Strict action should be taken against those who harass online taxi drivers. Separate online taxi parking system should be introduced and the administration should allow the online taxi drivers to pick the passengers from the railway station,” he added.
Association members were present at the protest.
