Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district police cleared the air regarding the death of a carpenter belonging to a particular community, who was found dead in the attic of a house belonging to a member of another community, in a village in Puttur, before the matter took an ugly turn.
In order to prevent a repeat of the Honnavar incident, the DK police, through swift action and presence of mind, took the victim’s family into confidence, by conducting spot mahajar in front of them, leaving no room for suspicion.
The police said the post-mortem revealed that the death of 48-year-old Prabhakar, a resident of Kadukukke in Manjeshwar village, was due to shock, when he had climbed the attic. They refuted the rumours which were circulating that he was murdered.
