Mangalore : Compared to the previous Lok Sabha elections conducted in 2009, this year Dakshina Kannada witnessed two percent more voters, making it 76. 67 percent turnout.
Speaking at the press meet held at his office on April 17, Thursday, after the completion of polling, DC A B Ibrahim said that the percentage of DK constituency may increase since the data from Mangalore North was updated.
He also said that the officia;s had to replace 17 EVMs in the station, out of which 11 were replaced before 7 am and 6 other before the polling concluded.
DC also said that there were few complaints registered regarding voting, trespass, absence of names in voters’ list and arroganvy by some police personnels, but the polling went on peacefully throughout the day wothout witnessing any untoward incident.
He also said that some technical issues such as malfunctioning of EVMs had delayed the updates from over 160 booths, where as some of the presiding officers were slow. However Dakshina Kannada constituency was one in the state that witnessed highest percentage of polling.
The percentages of polling in Assembly constituencies are
Beltangady – 76.65 percent
Moodbidri – 74.63 percent
Mangalore North – 70.08 percent
Mangalore South – 70.13 percent
Mangalore (Ullal) – 74.50 percent
Bantwal – 81 percent
Puttur – 82.63 percent
Sullia – 83.76 percent
