Mangalore : The department of Rural Development and Government of India has adjudged Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat with “Best ZP” award.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan conferred the award to DK ZP President Asha Thimmappa Gowda, Vice President Sathish Kumpala and Standing Committee on Agriculture and Industry President Balakrishna Banajalu in a ceremony at New Delhi on October 1.
Apart from it, Kolnadu, Laila, Thenkamijaru, Golithottu and Sampaje Gram Panchayats have been selected for Best Gandhi Grama Puraskar, which will be presented at Banquet Hall in Vidhana Soudha on October 2 at 4.30 pm. The award will comprise of a cash prize of Rs five lakh each.
Under Rajeev Gandhi Panchayat Sashaktikarana Abhiyan, DK ZP has received Rs 50 lakh and Bannur GP has received Rs 17 lakh.
While In the divisional-level category, Laila GP has bagged Cleanliness award comprising cash prize of Rs five lakh. Laila has won second place securing cash prize of Rs seven lakh in the State-level
Belthangady taluk has won first place in the divisional-level award comprising a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh. Taluk has won second place in the state-level award carrying a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh .
