Mangalore : Shekhar L, Convener of the Dalita Hakkugala Horata Samithi said that the funds meant for development of Naxal affected villages are being used to asphalt the stretch of 1.5 km road leading to Jain Basadi in Savanalu, by discontinuing the asphalt of road leading to a Malekudiya colony.
Speaking at the SC/ST Grievance Redressal Meeting held at the DC office on May 8, Thursday, he said that the sanctioned for development of Naxal areas have not being utilized effectively.
Stating out the problems faced by the residents of a Malekudiya colony at Banjaramale, urged DC to establish a connecting road to the colony with the help of the government funds which have been sanctioned.
Few of the Dalit leaders also resented the usage of terms like Girijana and Harijana mentioned in official records and RTC records as well.
In return the DC .B. Ibrahim directed the officials to take necessary steps in this regard as soon as possible.
The Dalit leader SP Anand also brought the matter to the notice of DC, about the bad state of quarters provided by the City Corporation to its municipal workers at Mahakalipadpu.
He also urged the authorities to provide land for the crematorium for SC STs at Niddodi.
