Mangalore : The DK District Committee of the Dalit Rights Committee staged a protest near the DC office in Mangalore on July 29 demanding title deeds to poor families residing in Tannirbavi.
Addressing the protestors, Krishnappa Konchady said the Dalit Rights Committee and the CPI(M) have been fighting for the rights of nearly 300 Poor Dalit families who have been residing in Tannirbavi area since the past 80 years.
He said already three protests have been staged but of no avail and added the government was denying title deeds citing reason that the area fell under CRZ zone earlier.
Though the erstwhile DC Maheshwar Rao had directed the MCC to conduct a survey, the MCC wants the survey by Taluk survey Department, he said. He said the poor families are denied various benefits for want of title deeds.
Sunil Kumar Bajal, city unit Secretary also spoke on the occasion. Lingappa Nantur, Secretary of Dalit Rights Committee , and others participated in the protest.
