Mangalore : Dalit leaders  took seriously the failure of the officials to inform them about the arrival of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes member M Shivanna to Mangalore recently. Participating in the SC ST Grievance Redressal meeting held at the SP office on September 1, Sunday, Dalit representative Ashok Konchady said they would have brought their problems the notice of the commission member had they been informed.

The SP assured to bring the matter to the notice of the DC.

Koosappa, a Dalit who participated in the meeting said police have filed B report with regard to his complaint of threats. He demanded a re-probe and even alleged that the  Kadaba SI   was  even encouraging accused to file  counter complaints. The SP promised to probe both the cases.

SP Abhishek Goel also informed about the plans to post five of the 21 newly inducted Home Guards to traffic duty after a new traffic police station comes up in Bantwal.

Additional SP Shivakumar was present at the meeting.
