Mysore : The Nadahabba Dasara-2012 will be formally inaugurated by Sri Siddheshwara Swamiji of Jnanayoga Ashram in Bijapur, by offering a special puja to Goddess Chamundeshwari atop Chamundi Hill during the auspicious occasion of Dhanur Lagna between 10.42 am and 11.12 am on Oct. 16.
Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Dy. Chief Ministers K.S. Eshwarappa & R. Ashok and Muzrai Minister Srinivas Poojari will be present. MLA M. Satyanarayana will preside.
On the same day at 6 pm, Shettar will inaugurate the Dasara cultural programmes at the Palace premises which will be presided over by the District In-Charge Minister S.A. Ramdas.
Vijayadashami procession: The Jumboo Savari procession will be launched by Shettar by offering puja to Nandi Dhwaja during the auspicious Dhanur lagna between 1.46 pm and 2.14 pm on Oct. 24.
Torchlight Parade: On Oct. 24 at 7 pm, Torchlight Parade will be held at Bannimantap ground where Governor H.R. Bhardwaj will receive the guard of honour.
Other events: On Oct. 16, a magic show will be held at the J.K. Grounds at 1 pm, followed by launching of Food Mela at CADA office premises at 1.30 pm, Dasara tourism programme at Palace premises at 3 pm, wrestling tournament at Devaraj Urs Multiputpose Stadium, Film Festival at Kalamandira at 4 pm, Dasara Exhibition inaugural at the Exhibition Ground at 4.30 pm, Flower Show at Curzon Park at 5 pm. Dasara illumination at K.R. Circle will be switched on at 6 pm.
Adventure sports will be held at Varuna Lake at 9 am on Oct. 17, followed by Vidwat Goshti at KSOU’s Kaveri auditorium at 10 am, Children’s Dasara at Jagan-mohan Palace at 11.30 am and Yuva Sambhrama at Open Air Theatre in Manasagangothri at 5.30 pm.
On Oct. 18 at 7 am, Heritage Walk will be held from Town Hall, followed by inauguration of Devaraja Market expo at 10 am, Farmers’ Dasara at Kalamandira at 11.30 am, Police Band concert in Palace at 6 pm, national-level invitational Kabaddi tournament in Vijayanagar Sports Complex at 5 pm and Kho-kho tourney in Subbarayanakere ground at 5 pm.
