Mangalore : Belthangady Police have arrested one person in connection with a theft that took place at the Sooryanarayana Temple at Naravi in May last year. Police have also seized all the stolen valuables and also a mobile phone and a bike from the accused identified as Chandrashekhar of Davangere.
This was informed to reporters by SP Abhishek Goel on January 24, Thursday. The SP said a special police team had been formed to apprehend the accused in the case. Silver weighing 4 kg and 28 grams of gold and some cash all totaling Rs 3 lakhs had been stolen.
Chandrashekhar was apprehended by the special team led by Circle Inspector Raghava near the Keddu junction of Badagakarandur village when they intercepted Chandrashekhar who was on his bike, on suspicion. An iron rod in the bike further substantiated their doubt and interrogations revealed that he was the one who burgled the temple.
DySP PSM Varnekar, PSI Abdul Khader, ASI Vasudeva Nayak and others took part in the operation.
