New Delhi: Iqbal Mirchi, a close aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, has been arrested in London, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said here Tuesday.
‘CBI Interpol has confirmed the arrest of Iqbal Mirchi in London. He was arrested today (Tuesday) for some offence committed in London,’ CBI spokesperson Dharni Mishra told IANS.
‘Earlier, he was arrested in London in 1995 but his extradition was refused. He is being interrogated by London police,’ Mishra added.
Mirchi is wanted in various criminal cases, including the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts that killed 270 people.
Dawood Ibrahim is wanted in India for allegedly organising and financing the 1993 multiple bombings. He is on the wanted list of Interpol for organised crime and counterfeiting.
