Mangalore : The DK district DC, Dr.N.S.Channappa Gowda has impressed upon local(nationalised) banks to provide educational loans(repayable after getting jobs)to students pursuing higher studies, when he received some complaints that some banks are reluctant to grant loans, but were ready to cover farmers’ credit 100% with Farm Credit.
Gowda launched the Campaign at a meeting in his office on Monday (Aug.29). The Syndicate bank is the lead district financier.
The meeting had been called to prepare an action plan to provide suitable credit to all the “Uncovered” farmers as per directions of ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
All financial institutions were asked to provide loans to this category of farmers (uncovered) by Sep.30 latest.
Gowda told the farmers to approach the service area branch, and avail of the agro-credit facility, and further assured of revenue department, co-operation in need. Rules and regulations have been drawn up to suit the farmers.
