Mangalore : The district police organized a programme to distribute the certificate as well as the license for the trainees of civilian rifle training programme at the Commissioner’s Office on Jul 22, Thursday.
Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj, said that thought the trainees have been issues gun license, it must not be misused.
When Dr A S Rao is there in city, one does not feel the need of gun. The people who were struggling to get the gun license from him, have issued through this programme, he said.
Trainees speaking about the discipline are the plus point of the programme. If all the public become disciplined, then the department does not need to enforce large number of officials in the district, he added.
Superintendent of police, Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao, said that that when the weapon training was held on the first day, he was happy to see the 85 to 90 trainees, which is the record in the history of the Rifle Training.
There was more number of participation from the people of the city. Further the similar training would be held for the people of Bantwal, Puttur, Sullia and other places from August 1. Hence application will be taken from the interested trainees in one week’s time. This kind of programme will be the platform for the public to understand the police officials and department.
The trainees participated in the programme, must further disseminate the message among other people, he said.
Presiding over the function, Seemanth Kumar Singh, commissioner of police, said that the programme helped the department to build the rapport between the police and public.
DC V Ponnuraj distributed the gun license to trainees; While Seemanth Kumar Singh honoured the training staffs led by Inspector Guruprasad.
Deputy Commissioner of Police R Ramesh welcomed the gathering and proposed vote of thanks. DCP Muthuraya was present on the dais.
