Mangalore: Various organizations all over the city participated in a cleanliness drive in order to make Mangalore clean, progressive, and green with the title ‘Shramadhan’, organized by the district administration in collaboration with a number of institutions and organizations all over DK on March 27, Sunday. Dix Engineering Projects Services Ltd. is the chief sponsor of this event.
DC Subodh Yadav inaugurated the cleanliness drive at Nehru Maidan said that citizens must be more aware of cleanliness issues and urged various groups, institutions, and organizations to participate in the noble cause
As a part of the drive, the students of AB Shetty Dental College staged a street play near Nehru Maidan and Service Bus Stand to create awareness on affects of cutting trees and smoking.
Later, the DC, Additional Deputy Commissioner Prabhakar Sharma, Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police Dr. A. S. Rao, MCC Commissioner K. N. Vijayaprakash, Zilla Panchayat CEO Shivashankar Murthy also took part in the drive.
The drive was held in various places including Balmatta Mission Compound in association with the NSS; Attavar Government Primary School to Vaidhyanath Temple in association with the NSS; Kadri Tollgate to Nanthoor to Kadri Park; Kankanady, Fr. Mullers to Nandigudde in association with the Humanitarian Relief Society Mangalore; Subhashnagara and behind Shrinivas College in association with the Campus Front of India; Urwa Store Government Employees Quarters and Hat Hill in association with Government Employees Association, Scouts, Guides, and MCC employees; Honnakatte to Kana MRPL Road in collaboration with Police Youth Club; DC’s office, SPs office, and Nehru Maidan in collaboration with Home Guards and Campus Front of India; and Baikampady Industrial Area in collaboration with Rotary Club, Vidyarthi Sangha, Industrial Associations.
