Mangalore : The Management, Staff and students of the Department of Oncology and Nursing Service of Father Muller Medical College organized a workshop on Palliative Care at the Conference Hall of FMMCH on August 3, Wednesday.
Speaking after inaugurating the workshop, DC Dr N S Channappa Gowda, said that birth is expected and death is unexpected. Palliative Care is the last type of care and the patient getting healed in this type of care will be great.
He also said that doctors are trying their best to give all the support to the patient during the Palliative Care. Today medical and educational field has been commercialized. But the doctors must not try to take the hope of patient during their illness, he added.
Presiding over the event, Rev Fr Richard Coelho, administrator of FMMCH said that that doctor must render their service to the patient without expecting and benefits. He also remembered the service rendered by Mother Therasa to the poor.
Participating as the resource person Dr R N Bhat said that the Palliative Care is an important care required for a patient. This type of care will be help to develop the mental ability of the patient. The patient must not be like the dump yard but they must be lively and this will be only possible with the help of doctors and their hope given to patient, he added.
