Mangalore : Deputy Commissioner N Prakash has directed builders to maintain cleanliness in construction sites and abide by the construction norms.
Addressing a meeting of builders, civil engineers and MCC officials on June 6, Thursday, the DC said builders failing to adhere to the directive will face cancellation of licence.
The DC also stated that he would be conducting spot visits and any violation of rule will face cancellation of licence.
Prakash said the district administration has taken serious note of the fact that builders have failed provide the requisite amenities.The DC said the district administration has taken serious cognizance of the fact that the labourers working in construction sites were not provided basic amenities thus giving rise to cleanliness problems.
The health officials of the Mangalore City Corporation have already conducted a survey and found many of the sites facing cleanliness problems.
Builders present at the meeting said that the number of Malaria cases were on the rise due to rains. However, the DC said he was not ready to hear any excuses and everyone will have to do their duty.
He said the MCC has also taken serious note of the dumping of construction materials on roadsides and drains and added that the MCC has taken steps to remove the same through its vehicles. The cost will have to be borne by the builders, he said.
MCC In-charge Commissioner Srikanth Rao, Balakrishna, Deputy Commissioner(development) and other officials were present.
