Mangalore : The red beacon atop the car of Deputy Commissioner N Prakash was removed on June 10, Monday considering the state government directive in this regard. As per the government notification,except for Governor, CM , ministers, high court judges and assembly speaker and Legislative Council Chairperson, no other official can have red light atop his car.
The Transport Department in Mangalore on June 10, Monday embarked upon the task of removing red lights and the red light on the official car of the DC was the first vehicle the red light of which was removed.
The Supreme Court too had given a directive some time back to restrict the use of red beacons on vehicles.
The RTO has said that all officials concerned including police officials will be intimated about the government order.
