Mangalore : The officials of District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) arrested a man who killed his wife 16 years ago in Tamil Nadu.
The accused has been identified as Raja alias Raju, a resident of Kumpala in Bantwal.
Speaking at the press meet held on September 5, Friday, superintendent of police (SP) Dr Sharanappa said that Raju, in a drunken state had quarreled with his wife and stabbed his wife Baby to death and fled the spot on July 21, 1998.
After several unsuccessful attempts to nab him, finally DCIB police recently received information of Raju staying in Dharapuram taluk of Tirupur district in Tamil Nadu and arrested him there and brought him to the city.
A case had been registered under section 302 of IPC against him.
The SP lauded the efforts of police personnel Uday Rai, Taranath S, Palani Geli, Iqbal A E, Vasunaga, DCIB assistant SI Sanjeeva Purusha for their arrest operation and awarded them with cash and certificates.
