Mangalore: Yes, a retired Deputy Commissioner of police and a devoted Muslim officer at that G.A. Bawa was honoured in a grand felicitation programme help at Town Hall in city on Wednesday, March 7 with a full page ad in the local news papers by his admirers.
A documentary (!) film title Bawa-Baduku (Life of Bawa) made by Mangalore media centre was on view released y Pro. K.E Radhakrishna on the socializing occasion.
A group of friends formed G.A, Bawabhinandan Samithi, to honour him.
Addressing an admiring gathering Prof. Radha Krishna termed ‘Bawa’ as a relationship with a pure hearted unblemished and human policemen people craved for such policemen in modern society in times of crisis when troubles are fomented and common people are chased like wounded animals.
Some cops should take up cultural values and protect them. Bawa who came out of poverty rose to great heights of dependability even as a cop and emerged as an Icon to many the learned professor told the gathering.

She said that Bawa instilled respect and love in all who met him and improved mutual relations. His life infused confidence among others. Ravi Belagere a writer delivered the key note address and felt that this felicitation function should have been held In Bangalore Town Hall soon after Bawa’s retirement. Bawa prevented the Mumbai underworld from gaining foothold in Bangalore.

He (Belagere) wanted Bawa to be chosen in an election by common people to work among them.
Bawa In reply said there were no political overtones in his felicitation. Which came out of people who had affection for him. He had no interest in politics. He held human values high in his life.
