Mangaluru: Three traffic wardens were felicitated by police commissionerate at Commissioner’s office on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion Crime and Traffic DCP Dr Sanjeev Patil said that traffic wardens perform their duty without expecting any incentive. It is a volunteer duty. The department has appointed four traffic wardens along with 27 students from different colleges.
“Traffic wardens help traffic police to clear the traffic soon. The department want more students to join the squad and help the traffic police,” he said.
J Mohammad, Maxim Moras and Mohan were felicitated by Commissioner Chandra Sekhar, DCP Shatharaju, ACP Thilakchandra and ACP Uday Kumar on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering Police Commissioner Chadra Sekhar said that it is needed to highlight the work of traffic wardens to attract more people to join the squad.
“People should come out and work with traffic police instead of sitting in AC car commenting on the traffic jam. Traffic wardens helped the department as well as they stood with people. The society need to be changed. Report the police about any problem and police will look after the matter,” he added.
He further said that a circular will be sent to all the stations instructing that no people should be harassed or questioned about their whereabouts when they help any accident victims.
