Mangalore: A first Solo exhibition of paintings by young artiste Zena Colaco has opened at Orchid Art Gallery on 24th Dec, at 10 am and will continue till 5th January, 2011 in the New Year.
The exhibition comes on the eve of Christmas celebrations and carol songs. But it is named as ‘Sounds of Silence’ by the female artiste with speech and hearing impediments (dumb and deaf). She is educated from St Agnes special school.
She has a diploma in fashion designing from Mangalore University. Sunil Abraham guide her at Kala (Bhawan) vision in city. She did computer animation on Toon School. Now she is ready for the Solo Art show.
There are 11 fine paintings shown at the Gallery including an acrylic on Canvas, known as the primordial sound ‘OM’
Welcome address was made by Zena’s father Stan Colaco, a farmer and journalist. Laxmi Kumaran, DGM of MRPL inaugurated and spoke on Art and artists. she said that the disabilities of Zena has made her arising artist with fresh expressions. Fr Denis D’Sa of Mullers Medical College blessed the occasion as a guest of honoured. A vote of thanks was proposed by organizers.
