Bengaluru: Ever since taking over the reins of the state, the Siddaramaiah Government has become a headache of sorts to people of Karnataka. By allowing the Government workers to go on strike, the life of common man is being inconvenienced daily. Strikes by Teachers, Police, Lorry Owners, Transport workers are daily headlines. The whole world knows that this is a direct result of incompetence and inaction of the Government.
“The transport workers had placed their demands of 35% pay rise and 42 other legitimate demands in November 2015 itself but the Government ignored it for the last eight months and this irresponsibility has now created a state of inconvenience to the people of the state, said Shivakumar Chengalaraya, State Co-Convener and Media In-Charge, Aam Aadmi Party Karnataka in a press release,” he stated.
He further said that the inability to negotiate the demands through dialogue also reflects on the incompetence of Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy. On one hand the policies of BJP have failed to rein in inflation whereas on the other, the Congress, with its frequent strikes, is giving the people sleepless nights. What could have been resolved through negotiations has been made into a public inconvenience issue by the Transport Minister. The Government has failed to contain the corruption in RTO but has made Transport Department into a den of corruption. Our State Road Transport Corporations are the costliest RTCs in Southern India but still they are making losses.
“There is no clue on the accounts of collected money being spent with any of the RTCs. Aam Aadmi Party-Karnataka strongly believes that if corruption in the department is brought down, not only will they be able to meet the legitimate demands of its workers but also reduce the fares for the travelling public. AAP-Karnataka demands the immediate resignation of the Transport Minister, having failed to implement pro people policies, forcing the employees to go on strike and driving the department on a loss making path,” he said.
“AAP demands that the Government of Karnataka immediately start the dialogue process negotiate &fulfill the demands of Transport Corporation Workers to end the strike. The CM should avoid making misleading statements like “will make alternate arrangement for transporting” 1 Cr. travelers and take practical pro-people steps to stop this inconvenience,” he added.
