Hunsur: At the Nagarahole Tiger sanctuary, two grown-up male tigers had a confrontation, and severe fight like gladiators, and a 4-year old wounded tiger in that fight was killed. The attack took place on Saturday at Gaddehaadi, in Nagarahole sector, and the tiger that received more deadly blows had the eternal sleep.
On Sunday morning, when the forest departmental official were moving on their regular rounds, the dead tiger was noticed, forest conservation officer Vijayranjan Singh told press reporters later.
There are signs of paw on the dead body, and blood was flowing from wounds, hence it was not poaching or any accident but two wild beasts fighting for territorial position like dogs do, Singh explained.
Chief FCO B.K. Singh, and tiger conservatory officer B.J. Hosmath, had visited the spot. They could not trace the rival fighter. Veterinarian doctor UmaShanker conducted the post-mortem.
The dead body was burnt (cremated) in the presence of these officers, on Sunday.
