Mangalore: The DGCA has instructed Air India to remove the pilot who committed a rare mistake in landing the Air India Express aircraft in flight, on the edge of the runway on June 25, 2011(somewhat like what happened in May 2010).
The flight of the air carrier had touched down farther than a prescribed area, causing a tremor among on lookers of a possible accident.
Realising his mistake and a danger ahead, the pilot with a presence of mind, had applied the brakes to avoid a catastrophe in June 2011.
DGCA conducted an enquiry as per rules, in this case and found that pilot was at fault. The pilot has to abort the landing procedure, go around the airport and approach the runway again.
The concerned pilot has been grounded on duty since, as a punishment. The airways pilots often get drunk, while embarking on duty and they are now being watched and tested seriously in all companies.
