Mangalore : Since the BJP corporators did not participate in the elections of Mangalore City Corporation’s (MCC) standing committee election process was postponed said Congress Corporator Lance Lot Pinto.
He was speaking at the press meet held at District Congress office on March 17 Saturday. He also said that this postpone of election will delay the budget affecting various development projects launched in the city.
He also said that until the president for standing committee on finance is elected, the budget cannot be presented. The BJP corporators had submitted a letter to postpone of election just ten minutes before the council meet.
He said that budget has to be presented on March 28 and implemented from March 30 but this seems that it will be delayed for a month.
Commenting on the writ petition filed by the BJP in the high court states that the according to Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act of 1976, all disputes regarding the validity of the mayoral elections will be decided by the district court, not the high court.
Congress corporators Ashraf, Lancelot Pinto, Shashidar Hegde, Naveen D’Souza, and others were present.
