Udupi: State minister for ports and municipal administration, Ramesh Jarkiholi was met by a delegation led by Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat on Friday November 23. The delegation asked the minister to use the grant sanctioned for building a fishing jetty to build it inside the port area at Kota.

Mr Jarkiholi responded positively to the request and promised to take steps to meet this demand and also to convene a meeting of officials of the department next week.

The delegation which met the minister included Malpe Fishermen’s Association president, Satish Kunder, All India Fishermen’s Association general secretary, Dayanand K Suvarna, Chairman of Deep Sea Fishing Corporation, Kishore D Suvarna, Malpe Fishermen’s Association general secretary, Gopal R K, Fish Merchants Association general secretary, Ratnakar Salian and members, Karunakar Salian, Santosh Salian, and district president of Mogaveera Youth Organization, Vinay Karkera and some other members.
