Mangaluru: “The district administration is not allowing for the sand mining and transporting of the same. So, we have planned to stage protest in front of DC office on September 26,” said district building instruments suppliers and transporters association Honorary President Kishore Kumar.
Addressing the press personnel on Friday, he said that since past 6 months district is facing severe sand drought. Many construction works has come to halt.
“As per the DK CRZ guidlines, there are opportunities for the traditional sand mining. But some of the political forces are not allowing continuing the process smoothly. The district administration had said that permission for the sand mining will be given after August 15, but still they are allowing us,” he said.
He further alleged that the sand mafia is running with the help of district in-charge Minister. Though the association requested DC to stop this many time, no action has been taken.
