Kasargod: Kasargod district excise department officials have seized demonetised currency notes worth Rs 13 lakh in a Karnataka SRTC bus and have nabbed one passenger on Monday at Manjeshwar check post.

The arrested person has been identified as Danoji (40) of Kasargod who is presently living in Mumbai.

Danoji was carrying 1200 notes of denomination Rs 1000 and 200 notes of Rs 500 denomination. Both the denominated notes have been spiked by the Central government in November itself. Notes were hidden under the bus seat in which Danoji was travelling and the bus was plying towards Kasargod from Mangaluru.

As per the accused statement the amount of money was earned after selling the gold.

The case has been transferred to Manjeshwar police station.
