Karkala : A 62-year-old man set himself on fire with kerosene in Kasaba Village of Karkala on August 29, Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Durgadas Bangera, husband of Shoba Bangera.

According to the Police, the depression of suffering from diabetes from the past 15 years made Durgadas Bangera set himself on fire in his room.

Reportedly, Bangera’s neighbours, saw the fire and smoke emanating from the window and immediately went to rescue him, but their efforts went in vain as he was killed to death.

Karkala ASI Annamalai, Circle Inspector G M Raikar and Kabbal Raj arrived at the spot. Further investigation is on.
