Bangalore : Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister R Ashok has assured to withdraw the cases leveled against Kasturi channel reporter Naveen Soorinje who is behind bars in the homestay attack case.
The assurance came in response to the hunger strike launched by Patrakartha Bandhana Virodhi Vedike at Bangalore since January 5, Saturday. The strike was withdrawn on Sunday following the assurance of the deputy CM.
Speaking to the agitators, Ashok said he has directed the police department to drop charges against Soorinje. He also said the issue would be discussed in the cabinet. Ashok at the same time said the charges against other accused in the case will continue.
The protest was supported by various writers and organizations.
