Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner S Sasikanth Senthil will hoist flag at Nehru Maidan on August 15.

A circluer from chief secretary of Karnataka has instructed Deputy Commissioners of the districts to hoist the national flag during the Independence Day celebration,

The Karnataka government has decided to celebrate the country’s independence day in a simple way as most parts of the state had been affected by floods and incessant rain. The chief secretary of Karnataka Vijaya Bhaskar, in a circular informed that independence day should be celebrated in a simple way and Deputy Commissioners of the districts should hoist the flag in the district centre, except in Bengaluru Urban.

In sub-divisional centres, assistant commissioners’ should hoist the flag and Tahasildars should hoist flag at the Taluk centres.

Usually, district in-charge Ministers are the authorised persons to hoist the national flag during the independence day celebration. As cabinet expansion has not been done so far and B S Yediyurappa is the only person who has been sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, he would hoist national flag during the independence day celebration at Vidhana Soudha on August 15.
