Mangalore: Deputy Mayor Amitha Kala inaugurated the 16th Independence Cup Football Tournament which began at Nehru Maidan here on July 14, Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Mayor expressed her happiness over the fact that a number of enthusiastic youngsters have come forward to take part in the tournament and exhorted the youngsters to play the game in the true spirit of sportsmanship. Over 112 teams have registered their names for the tournament.

Ramesh, MUDA Chairman and  Corporation Bank Assistant Deputy General Manager Govinda Pai  were present as chief guests.

A Diwakar, Corporator, Aslam, Chairman of DK District Football Association, Hussain Bolar, Secretary and others were present on the occasion.
