Mangalore : Renowned theatre artist Devadas Kapikad and his troupe ‘Cha Parka Kalavider Kudla’ celebrated the 25 years of theatre journey through a jubilant cultural programme at Town Hall on October 9, Saturday.
Rangachavadi Mangaluru, organised the programme and was sponsored by Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy and the Department of Kannada and Culture.
Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation inaugurated the programme and said that Devadas Kapikkad played a major role in spreading Tulu culture in India and abroad.
He also released a souvenir – ‘Bolli’, which deals with the achievements of Cha Parka troupe.
Later Mohan Alva and Mayor Rajani Dugganna felicitated Devadas Kapikad and his wife Sharmila Kapikad on the occasion.
Ganesh Rao, Chairman, Karavali Group of Institutions presided over the programme.
Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Bunts’ leader Ajith Kumar Malady, Film producer Dr P Sanjeeva Dandakeri, Journalist Prakash Pandeshwar, Director and Actor Shivadhwaj, Devanada Shetty, Kadri Navaneeth Shetty, VG Paul and many others were present.
