Mangaluru : The Chief Minister should sanction Rs 15 crore for the development of Ullal Dargah, to develop it as a famous tourist spot, urged former Union Minister B Janardhana Poojary.
Addressing mediapersons at District Congress office in Mangaluru on Thursday, he said Ullal, as famous religious shrine has been attracting devotees from all religions. People from the state but also from Kerala and Tamilnadu, throng Ullal Dargah which has been acclaimed as the Ajmer Dargah of the South, he said.
Poojary further said the dargah is known for its social endeavors and the chief minister should take measures to provide all necessary facilities to dargah and also the surrounding areas should be provided with basic facilities, to facilitate the devotees.
The Chief Minister should sanction Rs 15 crore for the development of the place, Poojary said and added that the Dakshina Kannada houses many spiritual places and more development works should be carried out so as to place the district in the tourist map of the Nation.
He demanded Chief Minister sending a plan to the Central Government towards the development of tourism in Dakshina Kannada.
Janardhana Poojary told MLAs to build pressure on the Chief Minister towards the same.
Poojary lauded the chief minister for successfully implementing Anna Bhagya Scheme, which ensures easy access for rice to poor. The scheme is a significant step towards making Karnataka the hunger free state, he said and added that the scheme would be more successful if minor faults are rectified.
Janardhana Poojary strongly criticised the Central government for batting for the ammendment of land acquisition act, through an ordinance.
He alleged that the Prime Minister is being dictatorial and is up to handover fertile and irrigation lands to Corporate companies. He claimed that if the law is amended, the agricultural lands could be snatched from farmers without their consent.
Why the senior leaders of BJP, such as Advani, Rajnath Singh, and Sushma Swaraj are keeping mum over the issue, he questioned. Congress will not give a chance to BJP to grab lands from poor farmers, he said and added that if the ordinance bill is passed, he will initiate a huge protest in the district.
