Mangalore : Hundreds of pious devotees gathered at Shri Someshwara Temple on Monday at Ullal (Aug.29) on the Somana Amavasya day, also the last day of Shravana, to take a dip in the Sea nearby, before entering the temple for worship.
This Amavasya is considered as one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu annual calendar. A holy dip in a Sea cleanses all Sins, and keeps the devotee happy and prosperous on this day.
The day also marked end of holy Ramzan fasting for the Muslims, and on sighting the moon, they observe Id-Ul-Fitr, on Aug 30, with a namaz at Tippu’s Idgah mosque on Light-house hill.
The Christians went round with a relic (finger) of Don Bosco in the DK district.
It is still raining and the Sea is boisterous with waves lashing on shares during high tides in early morning.
