Belthangady: During Lent of 40 days fasting on the last Friday(on March 30) before Good Friday(of Crucifixion of Christ on Golgotha hill by Romans), Catholic devotees offering service at various stations here of the bearing of Cross on Gadaikallu hill(or Jamalabad) in Nada village, in Belthangady taluk, were tested by angry wild Bees that attacked them, and bit some of the scared devotees offering prayers on the hill path.
Several devotees Were stung, a few very seriously, by the Bees while they climbed the forest hill.
Three vehicles took these devotees to the hill, for the pious Journey to enact crucifixion at 3 PM on Friday last.
Wild bees did not spare even some kids. The people reaching the hill top had to stay there for 4 hours, out of fear, of more Bee attacks. The route was narrow and there was no escape from their spiritual test. Those stung by bees were later admitted to Badyar hospital in an ambulance, by local citizens.
