Mangalore : The devotees at Kudroli Shri Gokarnatheshwara Temple performed a Urulu Seve ritual as part of Shivarathi and centenary of the temple at temple premises on Feb 19 Sunday.
Former Union minister Janardhan Poojary performed this ritual along with large number of devotees. Apart from this a rathotsava was also held on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Poojary said that he had organized an Urulu Seve for the devotees as a as part of Shivarathi as earlier promised.
He also differentiated the ritual like Urulu Seve from the controversial Made Snana, claiming that Made Snana requires lower caste devotees to roll on banana leaf plates in which meals eaten by the Brahmins but here its purely on clean floor, he added.
