Udupi : The Three Chariot Festival widely known as ‘Mooru Theru’ was held as part of Sapthotsava at Shri Krishna Mutt on Jan 14 Saturday.

These three chariots were pulled by the devotees under the guidance of Shri Laxmivara Teertha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt. The devotees enchanted the various names of Lord Krishna while pulling the chariots

According to the history of Madhwacharya, the exponent of the Dwaita philosophy, he had mounted a beautiful statue of Lord Krishna in Udupi nearly eight centuries ago on the day of Makara Sankranthi. Hence the Krishna Mutt celebrates the Sapthotsava in commemoration of this event.
