Mangalore : As Ganesha Chaturthi is at afoot; markets in Mangalore and across the district are making brisk business of vegetables, flowers, sweets, sugarcanes etc for the celebration to be held tomorrow on August 29, Friday.
On e can find flower vendors lined up and selling a variety of flowers all along the streets near State Bank and Hampankatta and so as the sugarcane sellers.
The Ganesha’s idol makers in the city are too busy carrying their work which is at the finishing stage. Many talented artists like Prabhakar Rao near Mannagudde, Yogish Mallya of Gollara Keri and Vinayak Bhat of Car Street are engaged in the idol making task of varied shapes, sizes and colours from many years.
The Lord Ganesha devotees who install Ganesha idols in their homes as well as public platforms take the ordered idols and then worship them.
According to him, he always gives importance to clay idol of Lord Ganesha with a traditional gesture and uses water colour and other colours instead of oil paints, which is harmful to the environment. But he must use golden colour since there is no other option.
In city Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava is being celebrated at Sanghaniketan, KSRTC bus stand, Omkara Vedike, Bunts Hostel, Nehru Maidan and several other places.
