Mumbai: A Mumbai special court Monday extended the police custody of Jigna Vora, the 11th arrested accused in the J. Dey murder case, along with another accused Paulson Thomas.
Special judge S.M. Modak of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court extended the police custody of Vora and Thomas till Dec 9 for further questioning by the police.
The judicial custody of another nine accused in the case was extended till Dec 20.
Special public prosecutor said that the police intends to question Vora in connection with the mobile phones and SIM cards she sold to a man called Murtuza.
Sunday, another woman (not named yet) also approached the police stating she wants to surrender a mobile phone which was also sold to her by Vora.
Working as a deputy bureau chief with a Mumbai daily, Vora was arrested Nov 25 by the Crime Branch in connection with the June 11 killing of Dey, the editor (Special Investigations) at Mid-Day.
Dey was shot dead near his home in Powai in central Mumbai while he was riding home on his motorcycle.
Vora is among the 11 accused arrested in the case so far by the police.
