Mangaluru: Allen Rajesh Vas, Senior Intellgience Officer, General of Goods & Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI), Mangaluru Regional Unit, has been conferred with the President’s Medal for distinguished service. He will receive the medal on Republic Day.

According to a press note issued by D.M. Soori, Assistant Director, Mangaluru Regional Unit, Mr. Vas has played a prominent role in booking cases of duty evasion of more than 100 crore.

It was based on information gathered by him personally that cases of evasion of more than 41 crore were booked. He has recovered duty of 62 crore. He was involved in the investigation of several high profile cases of tax evasion across the country, Mr. Soori said.
