Bangalore: DGP A.R. Infant, and Anglo-Indian, will be the new IGP after Neelam Achyutha Rao retires this year, thus disappointing Shankar Bidari who was nursing ambitions to Succeed Rao as the top cop or so it Seems. The RSS leadership appears to have stepped in to keep Bidari out, by Suggesting DGP Infant’s name, for the highest police post in state.
Some years ago, D.V. Guruprasad had lost his battle in seniority when S.T. Ramesh was made acting IGP. Now Bidari has been found unfit to the top post.
There is no chance of CM going against RSS advice, although Ex-CM Yeddy mayhave other ideas (of backing Bidari). RSS is keeping an eye on the minorities vote-bank, by suggesting Infant to the top-cop position. BJP has no minority Community representative, after Mumtaz Ali Khan was dropped as a minister.
Bidari wanted the post on seniority basis. DGP Sushant Mohapatra is another name in the Derby race on Nrupathunga Road.
The final list goes to union Public Service Commission(UPSC)for approval, before DGP-IGP is decided upon for Karnataka.
