Udupi : Thieves who gained entry into Dhanalakshmi Traders at Palimar on the night of March 29, Friday,have robbed valuables including gold and cash worth several lakhs of rupees.

The shop belonged to one Dinesh Prabhu. It is said Dinesh who had to attend a function in a relative’s house on Saturday, had shifted all gold and cash from his house to his shop considering the valuables would be safe. But someone who got hint of the same had broken open the rear door to enter the shop and escaped with jewels weighing 15 sovereigns and a cash of Rs 1.9 lakhs.

Padubidri police who are investigating have pressed a dog squad and finger print experts into service.
