Belthangady: The annual Laksha Deepotsava (festival of one lakh of lamps) held for 3 days in holy Dharmasthala temple area, ended on Friday, Nov 25 with a grand silver chariot procession to Sri Manjunatha, presiding deity with elephants, horses and dancing troups in the show.
The Karthik season has given place to Magashira now. There was a solar eclipse on Amavasya on Frdiay, not seen in India.
A Pooja was performed on Friday to chandranatha Swamy of Jains. An Idol of Jaina was brought in a devotional procession to the festival auditorium. Jains devotional songs were sung by ladies. A kannda dance drama “Sankalpa Himse” was performed, as guided by mother Hemavathi V Heggade.
Dharmadhikari Dr. D.V. Heggade and brothers were present. Large crowds of devotees took part in the joyous festival on all 3 days
