Mangaluru : Dharmasthala is geared up to host the Lakshadeepothsava celebrations from December 6 to December 11 that, among other things, feature the 83rd Sarvadharma and Sahitya sammelans on December 9 and 10 respectively.
The celebrations would begin with the inauguration of the State-level exhibition by Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat president Asha Thimmappa Gowda in the presence of Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade.
The exhibition, entry for which is free, would be open from 9 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. on all the six days at Sri Manjunatheshwara High School Grounds, Dharmasthala.
This is followed by the Lalithakala Goshthi on December 8 at Amruthavarshini Sabha Bhavana where members of Ability Unlimited Foundation, Delhi, would present Miracle on Wheels, a dance show by the differently-abled at 7 p.m.
Bharatanatyam by Priyadarshini Vasudev and Meghana Vasudev, Bengaluru, would follow this programme from 8.15 p.m.; Sundropa Sundru, comedy by Udaya Kalavidaru, Sagar, from 9.15 p.m., and Carnatic Classical Music by Suchithra Holla, Puttur, from 11 p.m.
The fourth day of Lakshadeepotsava would have the 83rd Sarvadharma Sammelan to be inaugurated by Minister for Cooperation H.S. Mahadevaprasad at Amruthavarshini at 5 p.m. on December 9.
The sammelan would be attended by Shreyas D. Vakeel, secretary, The Bangalore Parsee Zoroastrian Anjuman, Tamil Selvi, professor and HoD, Kannada, Madras University, and Syed Shahabuddin, litterateur.
The sammelan would be presided over by Pranav Pandya, Chief, World Gayathri Pariwar, Haridwar.
Sahitya Sammelan would be the fifth day event that would be inaugurated by well-known researcher and historian Sha. Shettar at 5 p.m. on November 10 at 5 p.m. at Amruthavarshini. Litterateur Pradhan Gurudath would preside over the sammelan.
Karkala Yogish Kini would recite poems of K.S. Narasimha Swamy and Nadoja Kayyara Kinhanna Rai, which would be followed by ballet — Hara and Jairam by Punya Dance Company, Bengaluru.
There would also be cultural programmes at the exhibition pandal from 6.30 a.m. between December 6 and December 11.
