Mangalore : A Dharna and protest meet was held in front of DC office on the evening of February 8, Friday in connection with the state level ‘Tipu Week 2013’ being observed by the district unit of Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike. It may be recalled here that The Tip u Week programmes were inaugurated at Udupi on February 4.
Addressing the protest meet held in Mangalore, Suresh Bhat Bakrabail, District President of the Vedike, took strong exception to the several allegations hurled at Tipu Sultan by one section of the society to thwart the Central Government moves to set up a minorities university in the name of Tipu Sultan.
He made it clear that Tipu was not a traitor. A study of history will make anyone admire the great personality, Bhat said.
Several members of Komu Sauharda Vedike took part in the protest.
