Bangaluru: According to few sources, former Chief Minister and chairman of the coordination committee of Congress and JD(S) government, Siddaramaiah, has declined to acknowledge the offer of president ship of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) offered to him. He has put his weight behind current working leader of KPCC, Gundu Rao, for the post, it is said.
At Siddaramaih’s command, S R Patil is probably going to be made chairman of legislative committee instead of D H Shankaramurthy of BJP, who is resigning, and who decided not to challenge the election this time.
Dinesh Gundu Rao was denied the post of the minister since he has a place with Brahmin category, while Patil, a Lingayat, had worked hard for Siddaramaih’s victory in Badami. Siddaramaiah, decided not to head KPCC as Lok Sabha election is only a year away, for which lot of responsibilities should be carried and money matters would need to be overseen other than taking the blame in case of failure.
In this race, Basavaraj Horatti, a JD(S) pioneer who the party was ready to make chairman of the legislative council, appears to have lost the race. Congress happens to be the majority party in the board and JD(S) is obliged to back it.
Senior JD(S) leader, Basavaraj Horatti, was at first offered the post of the administrator of the chamber by his party. Horatti was irate at not being made a minister by his party at that point.
He expressed that the party initiative was furious at his involvement with Lingayat religious status unsettling and in this manner did not make him a minister, but rather had contended that it was his own cooperation and not in the interest of the party. On Thursday, he had met Siddaramaiah and asked for him to help his candidature for the post of director of legislative council.
