Mangalore: Talking to pressmen at the press club on Jan.1, 2014, Dinesh Holla a leader of a tracking team that is championing the cause of saving Netravati river water Yettinahole in the Western Ghats for people of DK district, has opposed tooth and nail the proposed project of diverting the river waters from Yettinahole to Kolar via Mandya and Chikkaballapur districts, for providing drinking water to the parched people of old Mysore region.
He attacked union minister M Veerappa Moily and state minister for environment, B Ramanath Rai who are both from the coastal districts of Udupi and DK for hatching a plan to divert Netravati waters at Yettinahole on the Ghats from a tributary river, so as to dry up Netravati, which is so essential a life line for the people of DK.
These 2 leaders of Mangalore are playing tricks to win May 2014 General Elections to Loksabha for their party and themselves, rather than safe guard the common interests of lakhs of people living on the banks of Netravati river in DK district.
Holla continued that the congress plan to divert Netravati and frighten the wits of DK people with the picture of a dried up river bed near Bantwal and Mangalore, will not succeed and the 2 ministers who are advocating Netravati diversion to Chikkaballapur will meet disaster in their political carriers.
Swapna Noronha, Madhav Ullal, Praveen Kumar, Girish Kumar and others were present.
