Mangaluru : The Town Hall of the Mangaluru City Corporation now has a dining-cum-conference hall next to it on the same premises. Minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada B. Ramanath Rai inaugurated it on Monday.
The hall, having an area of 6,300 sq. ft., has been built at a cost of ₹1.75 crore. It has two storerooms, two green rooms (under construction), and toilet facilities, including one for the physically challenged.
According to Mayor Harinath, the hall inaugurated on Monday, could be used for dining purposes if the Town Hall was used for marriage or for any other function. The corporation would also rent out the new hall by charging lesser fee than the Town Hall. There were complaints from people that the rent for the air-conditioned Town Hall was high after its renovation last year.
The new hall, built in six months, is suitable for organising small functions, he said.
