Udupi: Diploma students of various colleges in the town staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Udupi MLA demanding carry over system instead of the present system wherein there is a rule that a student has to pass in a required number of subjects if he was to get admission to the next class.

The present system was a great inconvenience to the students, the agitators said demanded that carry over system in vogue in degree colleges be implemented in polytechnics too.

Students of Kamath Institute of  Technology, Kundapur, MIT, Manipal, RN Shetty College, Murdeshwar, KPT Mangalore, NMRAM Polytechnic, Nitte, and Dr TMA Pai Polytechnic took part in the protest.
