Mangalore: It has been reported that the District Wakf Advisory Committee has flouted the government rule with regard to Madarasa text books.
Reports said a recent meeting convened by HS Usman, President of District Wakf Committee without the knowledge of the vice president and other office bearers, in the presence of Riyaz Khan, State Wakf Board President, decided that the respective jamaats could implement the madarasa syllabus based on majority decision. This decision is most likely to result in differences between those who advocated a uniform syllabus and those who wanted a change.
The AP and EK Sunni factions have been prescribing two different Kerala based syllabi for Madarasas leading to frequent conflict forcing the government to issue a circular in October 2011 directing to maintain status quo and to continue the syllabus which was adopted prior to August 31. 2011.
